Spray Tanning FAQ for 2020
1. How long will my spray tan last?
Your spray tan will last from 5 to 10 days. Determining factors are described below.
2. Explain the best Timing for a Spray Tan?
Spray tan Two or Three days before your event. This is the sweet spot when planning your Spray or Airbrush Tan.
3. Should I Exfoliate before my Spray Tan?
Spray tanning solution affects only the dead skin cells. If you exfoliate, the cells ready to slough off will be gone and your tan will last longer. It is important that your exfoliating products or glove don't contain oils that may create a barrier.
4. Can I wear deodorant, moisturizer or makeup?
Many deodorants, moisturizer and makeup may partially block spray tanning solution. You can apply these products about one hour after your spray tan. (note: we have wipes and Astringent on site if you forget)
5. Wax or shave your legs BEFORE spray tan?
Shave your legs before your service (ideally the night before). If you wax then make sure that you wash your legs afterwards to remove wax residue. Shaving after your spray on tan will take off some of your tan with the hair.
6. You will NOT look Orange?
Modern Norvell and Mystic solutions look fantastic. You will simply look naturally tan.
7.Very Special events?
Get a “trial” spray tan two or more weeks prior. See how you like the color. See if you need to select a lighter or darker shade of solution and/or get a heavier or lighter coat in the case of a Custom Airbrush tan.
8. Get Mani or Pedi after a spray tan?
Not recommended. Get the Mani/Pedi before you spray tan for best results. These services can affect the color (i.e. wear off) on your hands or feet and might need to be modified slightly if gotten after a spray tan.
9. Wear loose clothing after your tanning session?
Although you dry in front of a fan, your tan needs to “set”, a process that takes about an hour. It is best ( but not necessary) to bring loose clothes and shoes for after your spray tanning session.
10. Bring an umbrella?
You don't want to get caught in heavy rain immediately after your spray tan. Bring an umbrella if rain is expected. (forgot one? we have an umbrella on site and staff will gladly walk you to your car!)
11. Can i work out immediately after a Spray Tan?
You may get a mild to moderate workout after your spray tan so long as you do not sweat profusely.
12. When should i shower after a spray tan?
You may look SHOCKINGLY dark the evening of your spray tan, especially if you have a custom Airbrush tan. Don’t be alarmed, much of color is cosmetic bronzer. Even if darker than you prefer remember to WAIT till the next morning to shower. The bronzer is primarily for instant result and will rinse off your skin.
13. What if i NEED to shower same day as my spray tan?
If you wait 4 hours to shower you will develop about 80% of the maximum result. It takes about 8 hours on the skin to realize the FULL result. We recommend waiting until the next morning to shower to see the best result and also that you use a gentle soap with no exfolient. Your tan will continue to develop during the next 24 hours regardless of when you shower.
14. Should i avoid swimming in a chlorinated pool after my your spray tan?
Avoid chlorinated pools as these will significantly reduce the length of time your tan will last.
