How to prepare for your tanning session?



Important - Don't wear or remove Makeup and SPF-containing body lotion, as this may block or cause uneven tanning results. 

Recommended before arriving - Shower, Exfoliate gently, and don't wear deodorant or Makeup. Do not aggressively exfoliate to avoid irritating the skin.


Should I use special Eyewear when tanning?

Federal and State law require eye protection


How do I get a BASE Tan?

Six tanning sessions over a nine-day period will provide a sufficient base tan if you want to look tan and be protected from harsh outdoor UV exposure. It is not required to have more than 24 hours between sessions, so long as you are not pink or red from the prior one. Tanning is a 2-step process which is why it takes time. UV light affects two important cellular structures

1. Existing Intracellular Melanin - UVA and UVB darken whatever melanin is naturally present 

2. Melanocytes - UVB (primarily) and UVA (to a lesser extent) will create NEW intracellular melanin that is darkened during subsequent tanning sessions.


Should I use an indoor tanning lotion?

A high-quality indoor tanning lotion will help you achieve a faster tan in fewer sessions. (Avoid mineral oil products that may clog your pores.) Quality ingredients will speed up the chemical tanning process and replace moisture lost while tanning. Some Bronzing Lotions contain small but effective amounts of DHA self-tanner. Remember to wash your hands after a session with this type of lotion. Other bronzers contain natural bronzers, such as walnut extract, etc., that will not require washing your hands.  


What is the best way to MAINTAIN your Base Tan?

After achieving a Base Tan, most tanners will reduce exposure to 1 to 3 times a week, depending on the equipment they use. A quality after-tan moisturizer will also slow exfoliation and extend the life of your tan. 


What is the difference between High-pressure and Low-pressure tanning equipment?

Low pressure has a higher percentage of UVB, and High pressure has a higher percentage of UVA. UVB does a better job of stimulating melanocytes to produce melanin. UVA does a better job of bronzing existing melanin and has longer-lasting results. UVB causes sunburn, and UVA alone tends NOT to burn, even with newer tanners.


Are Facial lamps High-pressure or Low-pressure?

Technically speaking, they are High-pressure, but the filter glass is designed to produce a hybrid of high- and low-pressure results. 


Is it safe to tan in the Nude?

You will burn much faster in areas not typically exposed. Wear your underwear 50% of the time until those sensitive areas catch up and have a base tan.


What are the body parts that don't tan?

The six parts of the human body that do not tan are the Eyelids, Lips, Nipples, palms of the Hands, bottom of the Feet, and the Penis.


What about Tattoo Care?

You can apply SPF to your tattoos. Using an SPF stick is the easiest way, and there are many made specifically for tattoos.


What is the best way to prevent Sunburn?

The first session should be just a little over 50% of the max time for most tanning equipment, and gradually increase if you show no signs of redness.


What is the difference between Outdoor and Indoor tanning lotions?

We do not recommend outdoor tanning lotions in our solariums. Outdoor lotions often contain oils that can clog pores and damage the acrylics in tanning beds (the plastic you lie on). Indoor lotions, on the other hand, contain more nutrients to support shorter and more intense UV sessions. They are typically of much higher quality, using rare extracts and silicone emulsions.


Sunbed vs the Sun?

The advantage of sunbed tanning is that you can control the amount of exposure. It’s a controlled, calculated, and precise exposure to achieve a cosmetically pleasing tan without sunburn. The UV rays produced by a sunbed are in the same wavelengths as those produced by the sun.
